Fable 2: 1/2

Part 7: Garth and Hammer and Surprise What Ever part 2

After finding the letter and leaving the Guild, this time by Cullis Gate, they then went to the Gypsy Camp. Garth talked to one of the chiefs of the camp while Hammer was playing with the children. Hammer found out that just a few days ago Sparrow was here, and that she too, just like them, missed her old friends. During the conversation Garth stoled glance at Hammer and smiled as she played. Found himself doing this, he goes serious again. A little while after, Hammer found out how Garth travels these days.

“Horses, since when did you know how to drive horses!” Hammer looked in awe as she stared at the gloss coated horses.

Garth looked a bit hurt, but then the expression disappeared. “Just because I’m a scholar, doesn’t mean I only do reading and experiments. I do other things as well. Besides the people of Samarkand are quite good with such things.

Hammer looks at him. He looks at the horses, and she thought she saw uncertainty in him, but it disappeared. She smiled.

She heard about the people of Samarkand, mainly by Garth. And she still laughs at him for talking so highly of them. “There still only people,” she would think. But laughs anyway, not to mention the look he gives is so serious, it ridiculous. Garth stared back in confusion as to see Hammer laughing. He caught up and stared to fume. The children stops playing and look at the mage as steam starts to come off of his dark body. Hammer stops as she sees this and smiled some more. That mage turns away and looks at the horses. Sure enough Hammer saw the uncertainty. “Maybe the people of Samarkand aren’t as talented and great as they think.” And with some amusement Hammer walks over and helps Garth get ready for the travel to Bowerstone.

It didn’t take as long as it used, to get ready the horses. Garth was happy, he liked to keep some of his pride in tack, and with the help of Hammer, it stayed. He didn’t mind the help, unlike a few years ago; he found out that some help is better than none in some circumstances.

Hammer looked over at Garth as she did she was surprised at how well Garth did. She never thought of him as a people person and definitely an animal person. But then again he probably had a lot of practice before they met at the island.

When they were done, they said their goodbyes and off they went. On their way, the two heroes talked about how they should go about this and Old town. Hammer didn't really care for the people so took Old Town. Garth on the other hand gets the Alchemy shop, main Bowerstone, and rich society.  They then meet at the Cow and Corset Tavern and go from there. After that plan, they didn’t talk much. Hammer thought that maybe Garth still held a grudge from yesterday incident. And Garth thought she still felt bad about yesterday incident.  Neither was right.

After a less than a day’s ride, they finally made it to Bowerstone. Just like planed the two heroes separated to find out what they can about this mad man Angelic. By the end of the day, a hard toil, a lot of looking, and a lot and a lot of talking, nothing can be found, about Angelic, NOTHING!

“You would think, that a person like Angelic, the way Theresa described this person. They would be easy to find!” Said a mad Hammer who then took a swoosh of Cow and Corset beer. It was good stuff.

Garth on the other hand, took out a potion that he bought at the Alchemy shop. He for one didn’t care much for beer, but he did care about what Hammer just said. “It's as if Angelic doesn’t exist, that this person is just a myth. If people ever heard of Angelic, but then again they seem to know nothing of this person.”

“You should be talking.” Says a smug Hammer.

    “What, why?” Asked Garth.

“About not being known by the people, only is known as a myth.”

“….Good point.”  Replayed Garth. Since they got here, people won’t stop staring at him with their little stares.

    “So what’s next?”

“Well,” Garth shifted in his chair, “we can wait till morning, which is probably the best, or we can go back out and look some more.”

Hammer looked at the time, and then her beer. “Tomorrow.”

Garth nodded and went to get two rooms. By the time he got the rooms, he went to eat some soup and bread, got ready for bed, and read for three hours. It was twelve, and with hopes of finding something on Angelic, he could not. But he did find out a bit about a man called the Black Nine tails, or the Shadow Reaper. What he can find is that this, man, was related to White Nine Tails, or the Light Reaper. They were great men who were supposedly friends with the Great Black, King of the Old Kingdom. Nothing else is really known other than the fact that these Nine Tails were so strong and feared, they can bend reality to their will. Also they were supposedly not of this world. Garth read more about the Old Kingdom and what the King did during his reign. He then herds a loud thump, and then another, and another.

“Hammer.” He mumbles under his breath, and with that, closes the book. And blows out a candle that stood on the bedside table. During his sleep he heard a loud noises going on. Thinking it’s just some random party for a holiday or such he went to bed. And before fully asleep he heard familiar voices, but not sure where from.

“Hey, I need another one, hey you another one!”

“Get yourself one, your still able to stand, so get you lazy butt other there and get one.”

    “Make me!”

“Now, now you two, pleas, no fighting, we’re visiting, remember. We’re waiting for the call.”

A new voice came in. “I wanna play, hey excuse me. May I have one of those pleas, here keep the change. Hey you two wait for ME!”

    “Ohhh dear.”

And with that Garth was asleep. He dreamt about the time in the Spire, and the torture, the cold torture. And Lucien, his cold, pasty white face, withering to age with surprising speed. Garth woke up beady sweat and bed partly soaked. Even after three years, these nightmares still came. He went over to the window and looked to see what time it was. The sun was starting to rise. Five, maybe six in the morning. With that Garth got fully cleaned and dressed, and went down to eat. When he was done eating porridge, bread, and some eggs, he looked at the time. Six fifteen, with that and planing on what time Hammer will wake up, ten was his guess. So hoping he was right and probably was, he was off to look for Angelic some more.

By twelve fifteen, still, nothing was found. How is this possible? Mad and tired from lack of sleep he went back to the tavern. He found Hammer eating her third serving of eggs, bacon, sausage, and bread with another serving of beer. She looked up finding Garth staring down at her food. Before he could do anything bad to the plate of good food Hammer gulps down her food to begin a conversation.

“So, how did it go?” Asked Hammer, fork and knife in ready position.

Garth sighs and slid on the chair to sit down. “Nothing, not a thing!”

“Blimey, you think we could by now, maybe Theresa was wrong for once?”

Garth shakes his head. No there was something else. Theresa might not be the best person to have as a friend. But she would not put them on some worthless chicken chase, would she? Somethings fishy.

He looks up and Hammer and sees her looking around him, he wondered why she was doing this and turned around. And not a second later his mouth opens wide with shock. Right behind him, and he even went past them, was the three from the other day, and no bee sting could be seen, and happy as can be.

“You got to be kidding with me.”  Garth just couldn’t believe it.

“You know them?” Asked Hammer. Garth just sat there, “I met them last night, didn’t say much to them though.”

Grimm felt a stare going on and looked to see who it was. He found a big woman, and a man just sitting across from her, staring at them. His eyes widen and yell.

“Hey it’s you, well that’s great, we thought you were dead from too many bee stings!” He jumps over to Garth table, and Cerberus and Vululfur were confuse and looked to see who Grimm was talking to.

Hammer saw a rough bearded wild hair man come over and slam his hand on Garth’s back. “Oi!” She yelled. Grimm ignored her.

“So how are yah, looking a bit tired, but overall considering that day, you look GREAT!” Grimm’s grin widens.

Garth could not do anything and with that Hammer had it. Standing straight up bumping the table and knocking her chair. Garth and Grimm both looked up at her. “Yep, big woman, all right,” Grimm thought, “and strong.” He smiled, a mischief smile.

“Oi, who the heck do you think you are you git!” Yelled Hammer, the tavern went quiet.

Valulfur walks cautionary over. “I’m sorry, Grimm is a bit of a crazy one sometimes, I’m Valufur, that Grimm, and over there with the face, is Cerberus.” Cerberus growled, and Hammer glares at Valulfur, he started to regret doing that.

Grimm came back in. “Hey, yah I’m Grimm, I never met you before, you are?” Garth mumbled Hammer’s name. “Hammer, sweet, cool name, any way yeah, met your boyfriend a few days ago,” Garth went stone, Hammer gritted, something about him not being her boyfriend. “Yeah we met when these guys and I were getting honey, and he dropped by.”

    “Honey?” Hammer didn’t get it.

“Tried, we got attacked in the end.” Brought in Garth, Hammer was not surprised.

“Attacked yes, fail no.” Grimm grinning he took out something from his traveling bag, honey.

    “How did you?” Spluttered Garth.

“While you were scramming for you life like a little girl…” Cerberus began but was cut off by Valulfur and Hammer picking up her, well, hammer, and the story became less insultingly, by Valulfur.

“While we all ran from the bees, us three decided to split, during which Grimm could grab the rest of the honey, and his hat.”

“His hat?” Garth doesn’t remember Grimm having a hat. Grimm pointed over to a black coal top hat and a rich purple long ribbon wrapped around it, still hanging loosely.

“Yep, my love of my life.” Said Grimm proudly, Hannah rolls her eyes, and Cerberus coughs.

“Rrriiight, so what are you three doing, here?” Asked Garth looking at the jar of golden honey as it was tucked away in the bag.

“We’re looking for someone, we found him, but lost him again, always do.” Grimm says, Cerberus has time to roll his eyes. Before he can tell an insulting though, Grimm says a surprisingly quick goodbye. “Which remind me we should really be off, tootle do,” And he bolted; the other two at his heals bag and all, money left behind for payment. And Cerberus had his collar grabbed by Valulfur.

“Right, weird friends you got there.” Was all Hammer could say, Garth glares at her and they went back to work.

    Close to four, still nothing.

“That’s it, when I get back to the Guild, I am going to whack Theresa.” Hammer fumed while Garth looks around. Could Theresa actually be wrong for once? Or were they too late?

“Lets go back to the tavern and give her a call before you do any rash decisions.” But even he was loosing his patients.

Going to the tavern he went straight to his room while Hammer got a drink. The scholar ignored all the ruckus until he reached the third step of the second landing and looks up. A foot was coming right at him. Not again. With another quick move he ducked this one and a yelling male goes past him and down the next landing in one jump.

    “Sorry mate!” The person called.

“Get back here with our money runt!” A bunch of thugs tried to stamped past Garth who was quick to get our of the way as Hammer runs up to him.

“What was that all about?” She called out to him.

“Something not good.” Replied Garth as he runs past Hammer and goes after them. Running fast he catches up with the group and found them outside the gate. One guy pulled out a gun to aim at a running teen with black hair which didn’t settle well with Garth. Making up a quick spell he used force push and knocked them all out except for the teen few yards ahead. They stopped in their tracks and quickly turns to face the black man and a big woman running up from behind man.

“Thanks!” It was a teenage boy with wild black hair and crazy grin. Eyes dark as night, He didn’t have much on, just simple brown pants and black shirt. “Those guys would have had me good if you didn’t come after them.”

Garth walked up to the teen and whacked him. “That was for almost kicking my face in.”

    “Garth!” Yelled Hammer.

The teen winces and rubs his head. “Sorry.” More footsteps were herd as he perks up and grins. “Valulfur, Grimm, Cerberus! I’m so glad to see you three! Where are the others?”

The two heroes turn just in time to see the three running up to him. Grimm was fastest and grabs him into big bears hug. “Great to find you again.”

“Gehee yeah sorry about that.” Garth and Hammer stared at each other. Was this the person they were talking about while ago.

“Angelic, as good as it is to see you,” Valulfur replied, “we must get going.”

Angelic? Garth was quick to look back at the teen as he, Angelic, and the three walked back to town. “Wait!” Hammer was surprised by this as she still yet had to let the name sink in. Three stopped and turns, Cerberus not included. “Did they just call you…Angelic?”

The black hair teen grins. “That’s right I am Angelic. Nice to meet yah.” Garth stared at the boy. This can’t be happening. This was madness!
